Pfizer has agreed to buy British drug giant Viagra maker Pfizer Laboratories after it revealed that it had bought its US erectile dysfunction treatment for $1.6 billion.
The deal was announced by Pfizer's chairman and CEO Ian Read, the company's spokesman. Read, the chairman of the board of directors, will become Pfizer's chief executive in January.
Pfizer will also buy US rights to the original Viagra brand from US-based Pfizer subsidiary Teva Pharmaceuticals.
